Shula’s Restaurants Awards Fans as President Obama Honors Coach Don Shula and the 1972 Miami Dolphins at the White House

(MIAMI, FL  August 2013)  While President Obama honored Coach Don Shula and the Miami Dolphins team for their perfect 1972 season, Shula’s chain of steak house and burger restaurants awarded fans with gift certificates to celebrate.

The White House ceremony honoring the team for the 17-0, 1972 perfect season may have come 40 years late, but Shula’s chain of restaurants thanked fans in real time by tweeting trivia questions related to the undefeated season. Coach Shula strolled down memory lane with tweets focused on the 1972 season and team and then rewarded the fans quickest to respond correctly, with gift cards to his Shula Burger and Shula’s Steak House restaurants.

“Even though President Obama is a Chicago Bears fan, it was thrilling to go to the White House and have him honor us for that amazing season,” says Don Shula, the legendary Coach and Proprietor of Shula’s restaurants. “It proves to me that no one is alone in victory. Great accomplishments happen when people combine talent and work as a team. The same goes for our restaurants. We would be nothing without our great chefs, employees and customers. We’ve had the perfect season. Now we serve perfect burgers and steaks – all thanks to incredible team work. “

Shula’s Signature Steak Houses and high end dining concepts have taken off around the country with more than 34 locations and counting. The latest Shula win is a fast casual, gourmet burger restaurant called Shula Burger. The first franchise location opened in Delray Beach, Fla., in July, and the Shula team hopes to grow the restaurants throughout Florida and the nation. Specialties include the “French Onion Burger” topped with caramelized onions or “The Don” – Coach Shula’s own creation of a hotdog and hamburger on the same bun.

“So far this business has taken off beyond my wildest dreams, and it’s because people just love the quality of our food and service, which is all part of the top shelf brand Coach Shula has created,” says Carrie LaNoce, owner of the Delray Beach Shula Burger. “We bring to our food and customers the same passion and excellence Coach Shula and his team played with during that winning season. People want to taste that victory and be part of it, so at my restaurant and throughout the country, they keep coming back for more.”
