CESI 2017 Community Outreach Summary

CESI is proud of our mission to be a non-profit service provider of comprehensive personal financial education and solutions for all life stages and for all of life’s milestones. Our goal is enhanced economic security for everyone we serve.

As part of our mission to offer financial education, we have a robust Community Outreach Program that offers financial literacy workshops and classes in our local community throughout the Triangle region of North Carolina.

In 2017, we offered 197 in-person outreach sessions to more than 4,400 individuals and families covering a variety of topics related to financial literacy including:

  • Budgeting Basics
  • Understanding Credit and Debt
  • Reading and Understanding Your Credit Score
  • Banking and Savings
  • Financial Goal Setting
  • Student Loans
  • Maximizing Money for your budget
  • Identity Theft
  • Personal Finance Series for Refugees and Immigrants

We served a wide variety of clients in 2017 through partnerships with more than 20 community agencies, schools, libraries and churches. The majority of those attending fell into the Low to Moderate Income (LMI) catagory, with a reported household income of $30,000 or less. 20% of attendees reported that they did not finish high school, and 42% had a high school diploma or GED. 11% reported a college degree or beyond.
