Community Loan Center of the NC Triangle Celebrates One Year

The Community Loan Center of the NC Triangle (CLC), a holistic employee financial wellness program offered by Consumer Education Services, Inc. (CESI) to employers throughout the region, is celebrating its one-year anniversary. CESI, a non-profit that provides comprehensive personal financial education and solutions with the goal of enhanced economic security for everyone they serve, launched the CLC to offer Triangle employers a no-cost way to easily assist their employees with both long-term and short-term financial needs.

The CLC of the NC Triangle is a benefit
available at no cost to businesses and provides employees with access to
affordable employment-based emergency loans up to $1,000 to help cover
unexpected costs, as well as confidential credit counseling services and
financial education to help address long-term financial issues. Employees have
one year to repay the loan through payroll deduction. No credit check or
collateral is required, but loan payments are reported to a national credit
bureau, helping build the employee’s credit profile.

The CLC of the NC Triangle is an
affiliate of the Community Loan Center of America, a Texas-based non-profit
financial services firm which operates a network of affiliated programs
nationwide. The group of approximately 20 affiliated programs just offered its 50,000th
loan, cumulatively. The CLC of the NC Triangle is the first and only associated
program in North Carolina and recently offered its 175th loan.

“It’s incredibly humbling to look back
and see how much help we’ve been able to provide in just 12 short months,” said
Kerry Bashaw, Director of Community Development at CESI. “Employees sometimes
face an unexpected financial burden like a car or home repair, which can
potentially be devastating for those who do not have enough savings. We’re
incredibly proud of the 175 loans we’ve been able to offer through the CLC and
the feedback we’re getting from our employee partners makes us even more
excited for the future of the program.”

The CLC of the NC Triangle has
partnered with multiple employers throughout the region. Baker Roofing recently
signed on to offer the benefit to its more than 1,200 employees as well.

 “Baker
Roofing has always cared about the well-being of its employees and was excited
to partner with the Community Loan Center of the NC Triangle to provide access
to an innovative financial wellness program as an additional benefit to our
staff,” said Gissela Cornejo, Vice President of Human Resources at Baker
Roofing.

This revolutionary program is currently available to
employers throughout central North Carolina. More information about the program
and its benefits for both employers and workers can be found at www.clctriangle.org
