Money Myths that Keep Us Poor

Do you want financial success but imagine that it is unreachable? If so, you have fallen under the spell of money myths. Myths are illusions that evolve through word of mouth and are handed down through generations. People rarely question their validity because they are widely believed and repeated as though they are facts. The myths you have potentially believed about money might have a lot of impact, in fact, they could be holding you back from the success you are seeking!

Money Myths: There’s not enough money to go around

If you believe there’s a shortfall of money in the world, you’ll attribute your lack of funds to that shortfall, maybe even without realizing it.  You won’t make a great effort to generate more wealth if you truly don’t believe it’s possible. The truth is there’s plenty to go around.

Many people have enough money and spend it in ways that serve them well. They have everything they need and enjoy purchasing non-essential items. They think about how to spend money in ways that perpetuate their prosperity instead of believing that they are going to fall short.

It may be time to re-examine your perspective on money. Do you believe that you can find a way to have the resources you need? Do you charge an adequate price for your services?  Have you asked for a raise or bonus in the last few years if you truly believe you deserve it?  Have you investigated how your talents could be used to change your financial situation? Develop a mindset of success and then look at your financial picture with fresh eyes..you may be surprised at the outcome

Money Myths: You need money to make money

The myth that you must have money to make money can give you a mentality of poverty. You may think there’s no point in attempting to be entrepreneurial if your efforts won’t pay off or if you truly believe that you don’t have the funds to make your dreams come true. You’re likely to imagine you need to put up with meager finances because that’s your lot in life.

Many people started businesses without money in their pockets. They have hustled, to be sure, but they have found ways to realize their potential. Some worked second jobs, others sold items on the side. Some asked for investors to believe in them…their tactics are many. The main difference in their success is that they believed they could create wealth, despite beginning with nothing.

If you have a business idea or dream, don’t let a lack of funds stop you from moving ahead. Ask your contacts and network for advice about how to proceed.  Mingle with valuable contacts. Adopt useful role models, and develop self-belief. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box and hustle for your dreams.

Remember, there’s enough money to go around and you have just as much right to it as anyone else.
